As the Fourth of July rolls around, it's time to celebrate America's independence with a bang! Fireworks are the quintessential part of the holiday, and a spectacle enjoyed by people of all ages.

Here are five easy and fun tips to ensure your family gets the most out of the night skies this Independence Day.

July 4th fireworks prep

1. Plan Ahead & Stake a Spot

Don’t let the celebration sneak up on you! Research where the fireworks are going to be displayed in your area. Arrive early to claim a prime viewing spot; you'll want a comfortable space with an unobstructed view of the sky. Bring some blankets, chairs, or even a pop-up tent for the little ones. Don’t forget to check for traffic updates and road closures!

2. Have Fun with Glow Sticks & Games

Bring along some glow sticks or sparklers (where legal and safe) for added fun before the fireworks start. They're not only entertaining but also help you keep an eye on the kids in the dark. Pack a few games or a deck of cards to keep everyone entertained while waiting for the fireworks show to start.

Remember that the Fourth of July is all about enjoying quality time with family and friends while celebrating the nation’s independence. Follow these tips and you’re sure to have an amazing night filled with laughter, joy, and awe-inspiring fireworks!

3. Pack the Perfect Picnic

Make the night special by packing a festive picnic. Include everyone’s favorites, some refreshing beverages, and maybe some red, white, and blue-themed treats! Finger foods are great as they're less messy. Don’t forget the water, as July can be scorching. A cool box with some ice packs will keep everything fresh and cold.

4. Be Ready for Bugs and Chill

The summer night can bring out mosquitoes, so it's smart to bring some bug spray to keep the little pests away. As the night goes on, it can also get chilly, especially after the sun sets. A light jacket or blanket can keep everyone cozy as they watch the fireworks light up the night sky.

5. Protect Those Ears

Fireworks can be loud, especially for little ears. Consider bringing some earplugs or earmuffs for the younger members of the family, or anyone sensitive to loud noises. This way, they can still enjoy the beauty of the fireworks without the big booms causing discomfort.
